Recognizing Jeff BUKANTZ

Celebrating Jewish American Heritage Month at Fencers Club

May is Jewish American Heritage Month and we celebrate the immeasurable impact of the Jewish community on our Nation, and in particular, on Fencers Club.

Jeff BUKANTZ and Daniel BUKANTZ are two of the top and most experienced Jewish fencers that have competed for Fencers Club.

Jeff has had one of the most diversified and successful careers in fencing, having served as a 2X Olympic Team Captain, 2X Olympic Referee and 2X NBC Television Olympic Analyst. As a competitor, Jeff has represented the United States at the World Championships, the Pan American Games, the World University Games and the World Maccabiah Games. Jeff also was part of the Fencers Club foil teams helping the FC win 8 National Foil Team Championships.

Jeff served on the FIE Rules Commission from 2000-2008 and the USA Fencing High Performance Committee from 1988-2008.

Jeff presently is Maccabi USA President having dedicated over four decades to the organization. Both Jeff and his father, Dan, competed and won gold medals in individual foil at the Maccabi Games. From Jeff’s dedication to the Maccabi Movement and a lifetime of achievements, he was selected as one of the recipients of the 13th Yakir Maccabi Award, the highest and most prestigious honor given by Maccabi World Union.

Jeff will be reporting on and announcing fencing at the upcoming 202 Paris Olympics and we understand may also be a candidate for USA Fencing’s Hall of Fame, an honor that we believe he well deserves and we endorse.
