Dear Fencers Club Members, Families and Coaches,

We are very pleased to report the appointment of David Niu as Fencers Club's new Executive Director.

David's appointment follows a very comprehensive search for this important position. David will be starting at the FC, in person, tomorrow, Tuesday, April 20th.

David is a skilled and experienced pro-athlete, coach, and administrator who understands, supports, and advances the mission, values and vision we have for FC.

David played professional rugby in Australia, Europe and the U.S. In 1987, he earned a spot on the Australian national rugby union team training squad for the 1987 Rugby World Cup. A few years later, after relocating to Philadelphia, to be with his sweetheart, he was named to the U.S. national rugby union team, making eleven international appearances, including at the 1999 Rugby World Cup.

While living in Philadelphia, he organized a national rugby league team that competed in the 1992 Rugby League World Sevens in Sydney, and in the 1995 Emerging Nations Tournament.

Not only did David help build rugby in the U.S. at a professional and scholastic level, but David also helped bring more awareness to the sport in the U.S. by entering into agreements with  MTV Networks, Spike TV, and Fox Sports International to televise the sport.

More recently, David has applied his knowledge of sports and management to introducing American football in China in collaboration with the NFL. He was appointed and served as president of the Arena Football League (Global) and the China American Football league. David and his team organized, supervised and coordinated all aspects of league operations and broadcast/media initiatives.

David is totally enthusiastic about leading Fencers Club. He sees many parallels to his prior work in rugby, and is eager to apply all his experiences to help Fencers Club move forward. David is also looking to take up our sport!

David's team will include Mallory and Cooper, both of whom are being promoted from their current positions at FC: Mallory will serve as the Programs and Special Initiatives Director, and Cooper will be Senior Manager of Facilities & Safety.

Please introduce yourselves to David and welcome him to FC! We will be hosting a meet and greet event for our members and families to meet David on Thursday, 4/22 at 6:30. We hope you can join us and please RSVP by emailing info@fencersclub.org.

Finally, we would like to express our appreciation to Liz for her many years at Fencers Club. Liz is one of our club's most valued members and has been directly responsible for making many of FC's achievements possible, including finding and helping oversee the build of our new home. Her individual efforts and commitment, as well as her kindness, were and continue to be vital to FC's past, current and future success. Thank you Liz!

Sincerely,
Philippe Bennett
